Again, you talk about the "median" but really have no idea. Living in NYC on 90k is nothing great.

Median is median is median. It means these guys, by themselves, make the median HOUSEHOLD income. The average household has 2.2ish income earners. That's a pretty sweet income (and it's pre-OT, which can be a LOT). That means they bring in more than half of the households in their area. Basic economics dictate that you're gonna live pretty well when that's your situation. If you're struggling at that point, then you're trying to live above your means.

Anyhow, this all feels like a huge thread hijack. 2 guys were aparently killed in retaliation for something that they didn't do. This is utterly tragic for them and for their families who will never see them again, never get to hug them again, and never get to tell them they are loved again. :(

He shot not killed his girlfriend.
His family told ABC news that he had a history of undiagnosed mental illness.

She is still in the hospital fighting for her life and there is a decent chance she will still die.

Here is the matching FB page for the alleged shooter:

If it is correct, then here's the pic the media will be using:

Here's the ones they are going to be ignoring:

Boyce said Brinsley's mother believed he had undiagnosed mental problems and may have been on medication later in life but detective said they were still trying to determine if he had a mental illness. He attempted to hang himself a year ago, police said.

Nothing to see here folks, it's a gun or race problem, has nothing to do with mental illness

Ding ding ding we have a winner. I quote thee for truth.

The thing that bothers me is that I don't know what the solution is to the mental illness problem. It seems that we expect cops to deal with the mentally ill, but I'm not sure they have the training and resources they need to do their job and also the job of a mental health professional.

Wut?

Are you so desperate to try to "Gotcha!" him that you cant see the point he's making? It wasn't a particularly difficult to grasp point either.
Unbunch your panties, the whole bullshit derail of a 90k salary having anything to do with this story is a bunch of bullshit to begin with.Beyond that, their salaries -whatever they were- has fuck-all to do with anything in the first place.

According to this, half of all officers in Brooklyn make less than $61,000, and 90% make less than $82,000:

http://www1.salary.com/NY/Brooklyn/police-officer-salary.html

And both men were married, one at least had a 13 year old son, so they weren't just supporting only themselves in NYC on their salaries. Total bullshit derail that too many people fell for. I never even addressed the officers salaries, just the fact that I (that means ME for you not-so-bright people) wouldn't want to live in an uber-expensive city like LA on 90K. I most sure as fuck wouldn't want to be in an expensive toilet like NYC on less than $61K in a shitty job like being a cop, putting up with half the shit cops have to deal with. No fucking thanks.

What were the two murdered Officers? Not Detectives or Sergeants. Invalid point. Speaking of reading, try learning how to spell.

It's fucking pathetic that a thread about two murdered Officers has resulted in some people claiming that the deaths were warranted, that there is anyone or anything at fault for the murders other than some douche bag trying to get back at Officers for the deaths of blacks. That they feel nothing for the people left behind. Keyboard jockeys trying to be cool, just fanning the flames. Death was too good for this guy. But if he didn't die, race baiters would claim that he was justified in doing what he did. When in fact he is just another useless thug. And the world is better off without him.

I haven't seen anyone say their deaths were warranted. Can you point to the offending post?

Are you porkers still trying to argue you aren't grossly overpaid?

You would be better off concentrating on a real grievance like these assassinations instead of another reason why half of America hates you.

It is a little early for the police to be pointing fingers at the mayor though. At least get the cops buried before slinging trash at each other.
I'm thinking you're unaware of what de Blasio said publicly a week or so ago about the NYC Police. Afterwards the cops took up a petition within their ranks telling de Blasio he was not welcome at any future Police funerals. de Blasio had stoked the fires of racial unrest by calling out the cops as people who couldn't be trusted and in doing so put the NYPD at further risk. I'm confident that de Blasio is a cop hater. Hell, we've got a slew of them right here in this thread. There are a lot of cop haters out there. But he really showed his ignorance by publicly expressing that hate. Stupid is as stupid does.

Geez, how many mentally ill people do you hear about committing mass murder in Europe or Japan? Few, if any. Why? Because of the stringent gun laws. You can dance around the gun issue all you want but no guns means no gun violence.

Mentally ill people will always be around. The same does not have to be for guns.

First, there are plenty of countries that have more loose gun laws that we do and a lot less problems. Second, there are estimated to be over 150 million guns in the US. How do you get them off the streets? Remember, we won't even attempt to round up the 10 million illegal aliens, and they don't conceal all that well.

Hmm where have I heard this before? "You are either with us or against us", "you either support the president or you are unpatriotic", and now, "you either support the police or you are a cop hater". It's right up there with other brilliant comments by the police union.

The mentality of the braindead has been played out and their fascist ideology is starting to become visible.

Lets start with Switzerland that actually issues firearms to adult males. It just happens to be a Sig 550 "assault rifle". Switzerland has one of the highest gun ownership rates per capita in the world. It also has one of the lowest gun-related crime rate in the world.

Yeah, I thought you'd say Switzerland. A country with a smaller pop. than NYC, that's wealthier and actually conscripts and trains its men in gun ownership.

So what I hear him saying is that everyone is required to join the military, which is also where they will learn to use a gun!

How very unamerican of him!:p

And yet countries of that size are constantly compared to the US. If you are looking for a country with the same size population, same wealth and amount of guns, sorry, I can't seem to find one.
