2 NICs = double bandiwdth

I have 2 nics connected to a DHCP server which imposes a cap on each connection. I know I can run an FTP from both IPs, and they'll both run with full bandiwth right? what will my internet applications (IE, trillian, mirc) use by default?

The problem with the 2 NIC = 2x Bandwidth theory is that appz like IE and MIRC won't split loads or equally divide bandwidth, nor do i know of software that does it for you.

Those appz will run off one NIC, one IP. I'm not sure that you can even specify which NIC to use for things like that.

This may be a good solution for you if you run an FTP server or need a dedicated connection to a server, but otherwise it'll probably end up useless.

You basically end up with two fire hoses pushing or pulling water through the same soda straw.

FWIW
