was wondering if I could put 2 network cards in my computer. See what I want to do is connect my printer via ethernet through my computer so all the computers on my network can print off of it. This is my setup so far.

This is what I want.

I tried to put a new network card in my computer and it took over. The drivers for the original network card were "lost" my computer couldnt find them, I tried to reinstall them but it didnt work, so I had to remove the new one. Any sugestions on how I can get this setup to work???

You haven't said what OS you're using and that would definitely help us help you; also, a little more info about the printer would be good too.

If you just have a peer-to-peer type arrangement with a printer connected to 1 PC and set up as a shared printer, you wouldn't need the 2nd nic, unless of course your printer is only a network printer and doesn't have a parallel/usb connection.

If it is a network printer, why don't you hang it off the hub and just configure the network protocols on the printer through HP JetAdmin or similar utility? Again, you wouldn't need the second nic.

Obviously, there's some unknowns we really need filled in.

Well I am using XP home, along with the other computers on the network. Its an HP Laserjet 4000T Parallel capable.
I would connect it through the hub but I dont want to buy a new one. The ports are filled.

I had no problem having 2 NICs in my WIN2K box (1 for WAN, 1 for LAN). I have no experience with winxp HOME, I don't know what are the diff. comparing to winxp PRO. But you can give it a shot to see what happens. You should use 2 NICs from 2 difference vendor, it's easier for you to distinguish them rather than remember their MAC address. Also, using static IP is easier for you to control your NICs. If you have problems with the drivers, try to move the NICs around (it didn't work when I put 2 of them next to each other in my pc)

Just curious, why didn't you use the parallel connection?
