2 Network cards on 1 computer??

I was just curious if using two network cards on 1 computer would be beneficial in any way? I'm on a college network and I would be using 2 10/100 NICs to connect to a 10/100 switch. I've heard that you can use two modems together, but I can't find anythign about using two NICs. Does anyone know if there is some program/setting you need to do this? If anyone has tried this or knows anything about it, please let me know. Thanks.

generally this function is accomplished with the NIC drivers and support from the card. The best I've seen is from Intels server NICs. They can bond up to four NICs to form a single channel.

The problem is you need to know what kind of switches your college is using. That way you can set up the NICs appropriately.

Bottom line though is you won't see anything of a performance gain because you are always going to be talking to a single mac address (your gateway) in which case the conversation will only flow over a single NIC.
