Watch this part on the socket 370 one:

"NOTE: does not include display cache listed in manual."

I don't know if it requires that display cache... Might want to find out first...

Both look like Intel motherboards and that's probably what Gateway uses. The first looks like an Intel SE440BX.

Hmmm, I thought the SE440BX we had @ work had 4 PCI, 2 ISA. This one has 5 PCI and 1 ISA. Anyone know if a 566 Celery would work OK in one ? The Gateway site does not show the cpu's supported for it. I have my mouse over the BUY button awaiting a response. Thanx ;)

Most SE440 BX OEM boards have no overclocking ability, be careful.

EDIT: To clear things up, I meant in the BIOS, yes you can stick a Celery in there at 100 mhz or use a slotket

Gunslinger,
You mean no O/C ability via the BIOS ? Intel never admits to being able to "push" their hardware. As many articles and buyers now know, its possible, just requires a little more work to it. I'm using the taped B21 pin on my 300A in an MSI 6119 MoBo so I'm kinda used to that. I am hoping that a good slotket gets a 566 to 850 in this board. Any words of advice ?

Hey WT, what version of 6119 do you have?
I've got a v1.1 in my son's PC running a 300a with no tape at 464.
Just curious. Thanks.

If you use a Mastercard at Compgeeks, enter MC Exclusives in the coupon box for an additional 10% off. You'll see the discount on your receipt.

The Intel motherboards work fine for overclocking C2's at 100mHz. Pick up a MSI slocket and go at it. I have a SE440BX-2 that I picked up off Egghead auctions and my 566 runs great at 850 with 1.70v. The big question is: what voltage range does the on-board voltage regulator support? As long as the board supports 1.8v you should be OK to run a C2. Just get an orb or beter for cooling.

Beer, I think originally it had a 1.2 jumperless but the company I bought it from (out of biz now) sent me a floppy BIOS flash to correct a problem with the winmodem in it. They sent the WRONG BIOS and hosed it. I called them w/ the info and I told the tech the info .. I heard him mutter S.O.B. under his breath, then set down the phone to get something, walking off muttering sh*t, sh*t, sh*t... LoL. Anyhoo, they sent me another MoBo but it was a 1.1 jumperless. There are 2 versions of the MoBo, besides rev's 1.0-1.2. One is cpu plug-n-pray jumperless, another just jumperless. You have the "good" one. I have a buddy who has a 566 in an Abit slotket so next week I am gonna see what it will do in this board.

I don't think it's an Intel board...I think gateway only uses a couple boards direct from Intel.

It is most probabbly a Jabil motherboard seeing that that's where the majority of Gateway's mobo's come from.

Also, on some gateway motherboards you have to have a password to change CPU settings. I couldn't tell you if this is one of them or not, however, I just thought I'd throw out that warning.

Good luck to everyone buying. Please post your results for those of us who're riding the fence! heh ;)

The MC Exclusives discount doesn't apply to Geek Specials, which I think both these deals are. It can't hurt to still give it a try.

None the less, these are probably very stable mainboards and the price is good.

I've been searching the Gateway site and it looks like there shouldn't be a problem with O/clocking the Celeron 2s to 850. No coppermines(133) though. You'll need a Slocket that will let you adjust the voltage is the only catch. This is a Jabil M/B. The latest bios is from 4/2000 with the binaries from 12/99. M/B Info Here A good buy for 26 bucks!!!
