Hey guys, I got this 2ms BenQ lcd monitor about 2 months ago. Has been working great so far, excellent colors and all. Today just 15 mins ago I reseted my PC and when I came back, the monitor looked darker and grainier. Now no mater what I do I cant make it look the way it looked before. It also hurts my eyes now, font looks messed up. I tried checking the cables and reconnecting them but that didnt help.

Sounds like your desktop settings changed, to a different resolution, number of colors, or referesh rate.

Its not the settings, they still the same. I'm dual booting Windows XP and Ubuntu and this happened when I restarted the PC and selected Ubuntu.

Well, are you using native resolution in Ubuntu? Are you using the DVI connection?

I had the monitor work perfectly on Ubuntu and Windows. I just let Ubuntu use the default settings once I installed it and it didnt have any problems. This also occurs now that I tested it on windows XP. Atm when I'm writing this message, this box has like waves of pixels moving from right to left, it looks like grain or sand moving accross the box.

RMA time or try a different video card. Doesn't matter if its 2 months old or a day old some monitors/stuff just have defective parts in them that go bad quicker then they should.

Are you using VGA or DVI? The flickering/waveyness could be from dithering but it's also likely to be from a bad VGA connection. All the other problems don't sound like dithering to me though. Bad VGA cable (if applicable), or faulty LCD.

Ouch, that sucks. :(

Good luck getting an RMA, they are a pain to deal with...
