2 Monitors... different colors

I have 2 monitors, both 19" Optiquest Q95's.... one has a Viewsonic logo on it, the other one is unmarked.

THe problem is that they do not look the same colorwise. One is a lot duller/darker then the other. Both monitors have the exact same settings in color, brightness, contrast... etc.

I thought at first it was because one was being driven off of Matrox Millenium, and the other from a 9600XT. But, I just tested them both off of the 9600XT and the same results...

What could cause this? I'm iinterested since they are both the same Make/Model....

All the software color controls are also on the default settings...

Any ideas?

It's really annoying to see 3 differen't shades of blue as my background... 3rd being my LCD.

Check the manufacture date on the back of both. Either one is older/hasn't aged well or was calibrated differently at the factory.

I agree that these kinds of differences are annoying. I have two LCD's in a dual-monitor setup from different brands and I also don't have the colours matching perfectly.

I imagine you have one set up on the DVI and one on the VGA? That will give you a difference in sharpness and color right there. You're goiing to have have to manually color match them. I tried setting up two 2005FPW's side by side and they didn't match either. The colors were off a bit but the sharpness between the DVI and VGA was very far off.

No, they are both CRT's. So both are using VGA, just one is using the passthrough adapter. The only thing that might cause a difference is if the output DAC's are different for the two outputs...but I doubt that.

As an analog device, you're going to have to calibrate them. Just because the numbers are all the same, the output doesn't have to be the same. If you just had to get the right set of numbers, all monitors would come with great settings
