2 monitors and audio question

Recently I have decided to change around my setup completely. Get a corner desk, and buy 2 asus 23" monitors. Im currently using a vizio 31" or 32" I think, tv. So as you can guess the refresh rate is probably bad on my TV, so time to get some monitors. Anyway to the point, im not going to be getting speakers, because honestly I dont want to for a while and I will just use the ones built in. Problem is, they both have speakers and I have 1 or 2 ports for them, if the case is only 1, I have an audio splitter. However it could be kind of weird "equalization" between them in a way, just weird audio. I can mess around with it and see how I like it, but is it possible to disable some speakers? Like if I disabled the 2 in the middle(Where the monitors would be together) and keep the ones on the outside of each end? If thats not possible thats fine, just wondering.

If you have normal analog cabling for the displays, you can just wire it up so that right channel goes to right monitor and left channel goes to left monitor. You can make your own cable, or use a few adapters. What kind of audio input do they take? 3.5mm? If so, here's one potential method.

Buy two of these for 39¢ each

Plug adapters into the two screens. Pull the cables apart so that the two RCA are separate, connecting only at the 3.5mm plug. Plug red into right monitor's adapter, and white into the left monitor's adapter. If sound comes from the wrong speaker in the monitor, swap ports on the adapter.
