2 million Nintendo Wiis to ship at launch

Good. I f'ing hate sleezy bastards who buy all them up, then resell them at insanely high prices :|

I take it that is referring to North America only? Since it was 1 million to N.A. before, and N.A. is the only place it is launching on the first launch day.

Shortages are good for generating hype, but I'm not convinced they increase sales in the long run. I think Nintendo needs to jump out to a big lead from the get-go so they can get more third party support this time around. If they sell 7-9 million units in Q4 (which would amaze me), that would probably put them ahead of the 360 even.

2 million units, yet EBgames and Gamespot can't get their crap together and start preorders? Come on already you damn stores!

engadget is thinking this friday.

In case you don?t happen to get a Nintendo Wii on launch day, Nintendo has predicted that it will have 7-9 million Wii units in the 4th quarter, from October to December.
that'll put them 6 to 8 million units ahead of PS3, and probably a couple million short of 360. 360 will probably be in short supply this year as well, given that the xbox was sold out it's second christmas.
