2 machine, small lan help needed

I am running a LAN with 2 machines M1-M2
I want M1 to be my main machine with mouse, keyboard and monitor, M2 to be just a box

How can I configure M2 to have a password so I can use remote desktop but not need one to log into windows when I turn it on? remember, I dont want to use a second set of mouse keyboard and monitor.

also, I used ultra VNC and it was just to damn slow and laggie, so RD is they way I want to go.

thanks for any help

If there's no mouse and no monitor, there's no need to log into M2 except remotely.

Turn on M2's power switch.
Wait a minute for it to boot.
Log in into M2 remotely using Remote Desktop from M1.

as far as I know you need to have a password enabled in order to use RD. its a security feature becasue you can set it upt o be able to be accessed from the internet.
