2 hr 23 min Avg time/WU

I just checked my class (Jan 4, 2004) and there is a cruncher named Yehohanan from Portugal who is doing 2 hr 23 min per WU. I am impressed of course. I don't think I have ever seen that kind of speed. Does anyone have an idea how to produce like that? His total time is only around 577 Hr, so he may only have one computer, but man is it spitting 'em out.

And not far behind is Undertaker2002 from Germany, going at 2 Hr 48 Min per WU , which isn't exactly pokin' along. No pun intended.😀

Hey Pokey!

Yeah that's some fast times!!! I'm getting avr 2h28m with my AMD XP2600+ @stock. 😀

I had one that went in 2h 33m yesterday. Currently averaging about 2h 40m per wu on an Athlon 2400 (stock speeds) on an NF2 board.

Edit: You lucked out with your class... you didn't get some University starting on the same day as you...
Link <-- Struggling to even keep 3rd. 😀

Now doing pretty close to 12 wu per day. The times below are from Feb 1st with some overlap from Jan 31st.

Mildly OC'd A64 3000+ (210 FSB)
The whole upgrade (new motherboard, processor, ram, and heatsink) was well under $500. Try doing that with a P4 3.2ghz

My Athlon @ 2162 has an average time of 2:17. The fastest average times I have seen seem to hover around 2:00. See post directly above.

I guess my ol' Palomino is getting a little long in the tooth...........:brokenheart:

But actually, for most things I do, it is fine, just not the fastest horse in the SETI crunching race. It kind of gives one the hankerin' for an A64 3000+

Tontod, since you have SETIDriver running, just be sure you have the CreateSETILog.csv box checked. As each work unit is finished, it appends a new line with the completion time and date. I open the file with Excel to calculate the time between units. Time and date are both in Column A, but not in the preferred Excel format, so I used "Data/Text to Columns" to parse the column to get the time value separate from the date.

and Pokey, don't worry too much about the Avg CPU time that SETI lists. My average is huge.
Take a look at my class picture.

My Fastest System and it is a notebook computer! Average WU: 1 Hour 49 Minutes
Isn't that surprising! :Q

I also have a P4 3.2G HT Dell 400SC that is my main workstation ... used heavily most of each and every day.

It has averaged 16.38 WUs @ day. That works out to an average time of 1 Hour 27.9 Minutes per WU. :Q

So I guess that makes my main workstation, actually, my fastest system and today Intel announces even faster CPUs. 😀

Actually, Smoke, not really. The Centrinos RULE for crunching (I've got two of em). But they don't beat my A64, even on a good day 😉

What is your Average SETI Time with your "A64"?

Always looking for faster systems. 🙂

Hyperthreading does seem to work well for SETI crunching, but I just can't bring myself to buy one. I have developed an aversion to Intel CPUs over the last few years. Sort of an "cheer for the underdog" kind of thing with me.

Do what JonB said about having SETI Driver create the 'SETILog.csv' file & if you want, try SETIWatch instead. A really nice program 🙂

My Athlon XP 1700+ at 1.8GHz (166MHz FSB, RAM at CAS2) does something on the order of 2:45, according to a visually approximated estimate from looking at the SETI Watch previous WUs log.
