2 HD's in a firewire external case?

Is this possible. I know I can swap the two but can I use both at once? I tried hooking up an ide cable but the HD on the slave connection doesn't show up. Is there something that can be done to run both HD's at once? I am using winxp on a dell inspiron 8100 laptop.

I believe the Firewire to IDE bridge built into the enclosures are for 1 disk only. I do not believe it can be done.
