2 GSkills, same Amount, different speeds

pretty much same price, i think a 10$ difference for the bottom one
but the top one is faster

now it being cheaper, is that something that should stir me away, if i ever wanted to OC

i know in theory the faster is better. but it doesnt always work that way

There's some pretty major differences there actually.

Link1: 2x2GB Dual channel 1000MHz @ 5-5-5-15

Link2: 1x2GB 800MHz @ 6-6-6-18 (I'm assuming you planned on buying 2 so you could run dual channel)

The 2x2GB kit will be your best choice, it has more overclocking ability, better timing. I use that RAM, and it's good stuff.

yeah, im going for possibly 8gb, i dunno, i do some video editing..home videos,or family sports or whatnot. so id need it for that

If you want 8GB go with 2 x G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000. But unless you are doing some heavy video editing/encoding, and it sounds like you are only doing light work, you can likely get away with 4GB. You likely won't see significant improvements with 8GB. But I have found some improvements with Superfetch when running more than 4GB.

With DDR2 RAM so inexpensive these days, and who knows how long that'll last, if you have any plans to run DDR2 RAM for any length of time in the foreseeable future, it'd almost be crazy not to pick up 8GB while the prices are down. It certainly won't hurt a darned thing to have that much...........except for a hundred MHz or so of ultimate overclock speed.....a very small price to pay for huge breathing space in 8GB of RAM.

I moved to that much about six months ago and will never look or go back to less than 8GB if I can help it.

I'd normally agree, but the DDR2-1066 stuff is only $5 more, a crazy deal that ends in a few hours according to newegg...depending on your time zone.
