I would have to say no. I just built a computer this weekend with Vista 64 bit / C2D E6750 / 2GB RAM / HD2900PRO 512MB. I've been playing Fury and the game crashes in any match with more than 16 people - I get the "out of memory" error from the game. I run a 19" CRT @ 1600x1200. So I ordered 2 more GB.

Can the game properly address more than 2GB though? Gothic 3 previously did the same thing for me and required me to use a memory hack for it to be able to access more than 2GB.

No. Both Windows XP and Windows Vista have a 2GB limit per process. It sounds like a poorly coded game (i.e., BF2).

Good luck "turning off extra crap". When playing games Vista will automatically slim itself down to a footprint that for me has been about 200MB smaller. Bottom line, "optimizing" your system typically won't do jack squat.

Not on x64. The limit is 8TB per user-mode process, and 8TB for the kernel.

edit: 32 bit processes running on WoW64 are still limited, but since they don't need to share virtual memory space with the kernel, they get a full 4GB per process. Native 64 bit processes get access to the full 8TB user-mode memory space.
