I have not been able to find a good artical on this what I am proposing is on a tight budget. what option should I go with.
2 gig of Centron 3-3-3-8 for $118.00 AR
or
1 gig of Corsair/ OCZ

My system is
A8V deluxe MB
X2 3800+ @2.5ghz With cool n Quiet.
Gigabyte 6800GT
OCZ 520 PSU.

I will be going out this afternoon to get memory so I need good advise soon

Thanks!!

If you game alot, and that meaning the latest stuff, then I'd go for 2GB as it'll last longer.

id bite for the 2gb for 120

memory timings arent really all that important on the a64 since the memory controller is on die, the difference from 2CAS 2.5CAS and even 3.0CAS isnt as bad as say a pentium 4 and the older architectures.

you can also get away with using a memory divider no problem either. you always dont have the run 1:1

and remember that 2gb of (slightly) slower ram is generally better than 1gb of super fast ram. the hard drive swapping will be painfully slow compared to just a few ms of time.

However, I've never heard of Centron and sounds a little 'too-value'.

I've had Centon before, it was actualy some really good stuff. Had nice tight timings, and overclocked decently too.

I read some OC guides and the Centon stuff actually did about as well as premium RAM after OCing and with real-world benchmarks.

Weill it's installed Runs fine. It does want extra voltage to over clock.
Stock is 2.5 vdc, I placed heat spreaders on this memory how much voltage can I safely give this memory?

That all depends on which IC chips the RAM has. Unfortunately, you just covered them up with the heatspreaders. See if CPU-Z or Everest will tell you which chips it has.

I get 2GB for upcoming Vista. 1 is getting too low even if they are faster RAM.
