Hey Guys I want to install 2 gb memory into my pc, i would like to know if i would see increased performance ? Thanks

Depends on the applications. Everyday use/gaming would be no (except maybe doom 3 on ultra high settings). I think it helps stuff like encoding

so what is your current PC? A somewhat valuable piece of info for us to answer your question.

But I'm thinking no. Unless you're running something in the price of of an FX-53, dual processors, or more, over a gig of RAM will not yield a significant increase in performance for what it will cost.

If you already have >=1 GB you're unlikely to see much of a performance gain.

I am using adobe cs and autocad.

How complex is your work? I'm dying for 2GB for when I do 3D Studio Max renderings. You'll need it for photoshop if you're working with 100+MB files. If you're doing 3D CAD work, your drawings are over 15MB or so and you want to do high-resolution renderings, you will probably benefit from 2GB, although you'll need it most if you use Max.

i don't know about CAD and what not but it seems that if your stuff is complex enough you may benfit from it

and remember if your going to be having 1 sticks (1 gig each) make sure there the same brand and as similar as possible, having 1 sticks of a gig each may help too (dual channel)

I'd be willing to bet that you'd never notice the difference between 1 gb and 2 gb with those applications, with the exception of a slimmer wallet.

1) If you WANT to install 2GIGs of memory, then just do it. Yes.

2) Will you see increase in performance. Not unless you use ENORMOUS files. So the answer is... It is possible, but you probably won't.

In most apps I would not see a difference, but one critical application (music software) will use 1.5gigabytes of RAM if I want to load the entire orchestra - and it might be nice to still have a little headroom after that.

It's application specific by this point - if you know your application will use the RAM, it will benefit from it. Audio and video editing LOVE RAM! I imagine 3D rendering, etc, would as well, but that's not my area.
