2 gamepads on one computer question

Has anyone else tried this? If so what are you using? I want to get a couple of Axispads but am wondering if I'll run into problems using 2 controllers of the same type. Specifically, if the software will allow me to assign buttons on each controller or if they will both automatically use the same settings.

If they are both USB gamepads then windows should have little to no problems IDing them. One will be gamepad X #1, the other #2. Th eonly trick now is too find games that can use more than 1 controller. What will you be using this for?

You can daisy-chain Microsofts SideWinder joypads together without any problems - not tried it personally though.

I'm going to be retiring this computer to the entertainment center after Christmas hopefully. Since it's going to be hooked up to the TV some 2-player gaming will be an option. And lots of emu's support 2 players. 🙂 Anyway, yeah the controllers will be USB, and I know Windows won't have any trouble telling them apart, but I need to know if thier own software will. Basically, will the controller software see that their are 2 controllers and allow me to assign seperate button profiles for each? I have an old Sidewinder now (not USB) and from what I see of its controller software I think that would be a problem.

I read in a magazine some time back that you can plug in two SideWinder joypads to one USB port and assign buttons to each on individually. The guy wanted to run Fifa and have four joypads hooked up and that was the response he got. I just had a quick look on MS site but they don't really mention too much about it though.
