Got 2 questions. I'm currently mounting 2 (80mm fans together, one ontop of each other. Is it a good idea?.. And also i've chained them together onto one channel on my nexus fan controller, is that too much for the controller? THX comments plz

No. You will get all kinds of problems from back pressue etc. You will probably find worse perfomace than from using only one fan.

I think it depends on the case. Some cases come with built 2 fans one on top of the other. Is one intake, and the other exhust?

I don't know about the airflow, but it will definately be fine on the Nexus. I run a 92mm Tornado off my Nexus, and a Tornado pulls a full 1amp or 12watts - far more than the ~1watt that most 80mm fans pull.

If you mean stacked like ||, that's one of, if not the, dumbest thing you can do with fans. :p

Just use one, or side-by-side. Larger fan if you can.

I think that is just the inverter that gets hot... the cold cathodes themselves are much cooler than other convential lighting.... or at least that is my understanding

You can find out specs for your controller and fan, and do the math. W=V*A or something like that.

Well, some fans don't spin well next to each other. In fact, I've had fans stop spinning when placed side by side like that, and start spinning again when pulled apart (all while being powered). I think it has to do with the magnetism in the motor, or some stuff like that. If the fans spin just like before, then you won't get any more CFM but you will get more pressure.

I read a lot about stacking fans a few years ago when a lot of people were doing it. If both fans are rotating in the same direction, you get so much turbulence between the two that you might lose some airflow. If the two fans rotate in opposite directions (with reversed blade angles, so that they both push in same direction), and you get the distance between them just right, they will blow more air. In other words, it's too touchy to bother with.

No, both fans are meant to be in a single diretion. Typical ATX case designs have the front part of the case as intake and the back as outflow.

By putting two fans one on top of eachother in opposite directions you essentially null out most of the benefit of having fans in the first place since they will be recycling mostly the same air instead of doing what they are supposed to be doing: either intaking cool air or exhausting warm (or hot) air.
