2 fans on heatsink

well i had this crappy generic hsf for my 1900+ and it was idling ~60C which I didnt like very much. I noticed it had a 80mm fan on it and remembered I had a bunch of those and noticed I could just use some zip ties and attach a second one. I put it on and now i'm about 10C cooler ~50C idle. I guess the other reason im running so hot is cause my roommate keeps turning the heat up. 🙁 I could probably even put one more on there (before I run out of fan headers) Has anyone tried using like 2 or 3 fans on the heatsink? Both fans are oriented to blowing air towards the CPU.

I have. I did it years ago on an oversized Vantec heatsink on a Athlon 1.0. Screwed two Sunon 80mm into it side by side (each with some hanging over the edge, of course) -- worked pretty well. In fact, my parents still use that computer (not OC'ed anymore though).

It wasn't my idea though, my coworker invented the little rig and I copied it for myself.

It would probibly work best with one on top, one on side blowing onto the heatsink, and one blowing away from the heatsink on the side towards the exaust fans.
