2 exact systems... different memory timings...

Hello,

I have 2 PC's that are the exact same:

Opteron 170
Abit AT8 32x
2GB PQI PC3200
Seasonic S12 550w
Asus 7950GT.

There isn't one thing different from the other... other then the memory timings.

Both set to Auto yet one Opteron system sets the memory times much higher then the other PC.

But when i set the ram timings to be identical, the one PC won't boot. I've even switched the memory w/ both PC's and I get the same result... i'm thinking its either the opteron or the motherboard of that 1 PC.

What you all think??

One is a present for a friend.

Why would you spend so much time and money on something as small as memory timings?

I'm not 100% sure but its probably the processor since AMDs have the memory controller on the chip itself.
btw would you like to by my friend? 😀
