when i worked as a cashier, it was lined up like this from RIGHT to LEFT 1, 5, 10, 20, OTHER... other included 50, 100, credit/debit slips, and checks. i also got $2 bills quite often and they went in the other compartment.

Same when I worked in the customer service booth of Kroger. All tills I have ever seen have 5 slots. If they wanted to incorporate $2 bills, then it would be easy. Checks/$50/$100/torn bills go under the till.
