2 Direct memory access controllers in System Devices ???

When I completed installation of my CUSL2, I notice 2 Direct memory access controllers, one of which has an invalid device status. ???
I have removed this device and rebooted, only to have it re-installed. What's up?
Do I need 2 of these devices???
It says VDMAD.VXD could not load device driver.

I'm using 3 128mb sticks of Mosel Vitalic.
