Brand Names. Price. Looks + Style. If I were you I'd get the Sunbeam one. Be sure to look around the web for the cheapest one you can find though. Once at www.xoxide.com I saw a Rheobus like this one for $4.95.. It was only like an hour thing though!

I just bought a sunbeam today. I heard some bad things about the Vantec 5.25 inch model like it making noise and stuff. The sunbeam can turn a fans all the way off, something i am not sure the vantec can do. The only bad thing i have read about the sunbeam is that the LEDs are blinding.

i'm using the pctoys version of the vantec one. it makes my tornadoes tolerable. the actual unit makes noise but you can only hear it when your a few inches from it and you turn your ear to it. i also heard the sunbeam doesnt do well when it gets to the lowers voltage like lower than 7. But it still can turn it off which is a good function

I have 2 Sunbeams, one for each PC. I like that it can turn off my fans and lights. The LEDs were blinding, but they are simple to replace. Just pop the old ones out and put new ones in. Fine minutes tops. Including installing it in the drive bay. I usually run my fans at or below the 7 volt cutoff (the LEDs change at about 7) and have no problems what so ever. Any problems with not enough power are likely the fans. Higher power fans will not start spinning at lower voltages. That is not the rheobus' fault, but the fans.

sunbeam - solid unit. somewhat ugly, beams are blinding, ugly print on the front. resistors create heat.

vantec - some say it makes noise, i say its unnoticable and my fans are slowed stealths. light rings look better, print on the front is more professional, lights are on regardless so you don't have dark knobs for unconnected fans. good or bad depends on what you like. i like having even appearance. its tech also creates less heat since it doens't dissapate the excess power as heat, it just doesn't use it:p i have 3 nxp 201's so i'm probably biased ;)

I've got the Sunbeam one; it seems to do the job fine. I don't know how much heat it creates, but some of the components (mosfets are they?) have heatsinks attached. I've got a fan near it though.
My one complaint about it - the edges of the knobs aren't rounded; they're almost sharp. That's about it though.
Yes, as stated previously, the LED's are incredibly bright, in either their red or blue states.
