2 Dell 2005FPW hooked to Dual DVI

Alright. I have the video card listen in both Topic Summary and my Sig. It has dual DVI outputs and S-Video. Currently, I'm using one of the DVI outputs with a DVI->VGA Adapter to hook up my ViewSonic 19" CRT (A90f+).

I'm supposed to be getting my 2 Dell 2005FPWs today. Just wondering if I could just shut off the computer and install both monitors (each to respective DVI output) and power up again, or should I uninstall monitor drivers first? enable dual screen?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks 🙂

If your current monitor has any drivers I'd probably uninstall them first, but I don't think its absolutely necessary.

You should be able to just turn it off, plug in the new ones, and then start it up and it should detect them fine. You'll almost certainly have to go in and adjust them and make sure they're both working right, but other than that, should be little fuss.

cool. Thanks guys 🙂

I just turned off my old LCD, unplugged it, plugged in my 2005, turned it on, and adjusted res. Thats it! I did not even shut down or use the Dell CD, windows recognized it as a 2005 and allowed 1680x1050 res.

For the breif time I used 2 2005's (when I was returning one) I hooked the second one up to my vga. I did the same thing this time. I unplugged my CRT, plugged in the LCD, turned it on, and the res automaticaly adjusted. This was cool as the CRT was running in 1600x1200.

ATi cards are good about automatically adjusting resolution, nVidia cards usually need to be told to go to the correct resolution (usually defaults it to 640x480), and in some cases needs a restart before it'll handle the second monitor properly (I had to with my old GT).
