Certainly a few bad apples certainly does not make the town bad, but it?s factual that Hizbollah HAS set up operations there. There were updates on this case tonight:

Two laundered money for Hizbollah -Ohio prosecutor

CHICAGO, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Two 20-year-old men arrested in Ohio were being held on Thursday on charges of money laundering on behalf of Hizbollah, authorities said.

The two men, Ali Houssaiky and Osama Abulhassan, of Dearborn, Michigan, were apprehended on Tuesday in Marietta, Ohio, during a traffic stop and found carrying $11,000 in cash, 12 cell phones, airline passenger lists and information on airport security, a spokesman for the Washington County prosecutor's office said.

Authorities said the men admitted to buying hundreds of telephones and reselling them in Dearborn.

Are the Hizbollah sympathizers here still going to argue that these were just honest people buying and reselling untraceable cell phones? Now you have to ignore the Hizbollah money laundering, and the airline passenger lists and information on airport security information. ESEPCIALLY in light of what has happened in Brittan this week.

The bloody sectarian violence going on now in Iraq caused by the Neocons incredibly stupid push to destabilize Iraq probably has caused some moderate Arabs to become radicalized so it's a good idea to keep an them, especially the ones in the USA. They are beginning to understand that you reap what you sow.

A few bad apples doesnt ruin the crop man. Consider something less borderline racist for a headline.

The problem with this as I see it is that although not all Muslims are terriosts, all terrorists ARE Muslim.

To say nothing of the same type of phones being used as the remote detonators in Madrid, Spain.

US Phones don't work in Madrid, Spain - different regulations, different frequencies.

And how in the hell would you be privy to information as to make and model of cell pone remote detonators used in a country in Europe?

Oh really? So the phone calls I made in Europe last year on my phone were not real? Or the calls I made in Colombia and Mexico? Gee, thanks, for proving your stupidity when it comes to technology.

Was that with an 'Unlocked by the dealer for foriegn use' cell phone, a Satelite Phone . . which isn't a cell phone,
or one of the newer type international cellphones that you biught specifically for use in the European community?

US Cell phones abroad

It's all alleged and nothing has been substantiated yet. I'm sure you'd like to jump to conclusions right away but so far all I see is a couple guys that were selling phones to make a profit.

So you give automatic passes to anyone with airline passenger lists and information on airport security, $11,000 cash on them, 12 cell phones, etc. Failing to connect the dots is a critical failure. While I would presume them innocent if released, I?m not going to burry my head in the sand with what it looks like they were doing.

Speaking of which, I can't help but notice your thoughts on the war in the Middle East side with Hizbollah, and now in this case. Curious what you think of the 24 arrested in Brittan, perhaps you?d like to give them the same support?

Update..

Now it's $1,100 cash, which I've had on my person on dozens of occassions. Is carrying cash illegal? And even if it was $11,000, so what? They weren't trying to cross the border with it. Let's arrest all the high rollers in Vegas for having too much money on them

Is selling cell phones overseas illegal? I know for a fact that our phones here command more money in certain overseas markets. Is there a law against selling cell phones for profit now?

And if it was indeed their mother's car, who is an airport employee, than her company can vouch for the legality of the documents.

Any other questions?

Thanks. I only ask because passenger list would be useless to anyone unless you were looking for specific people. And the other documents sound very ambiguous. I bet if these guys were white they would have never been locked up. But who knows what other details their are.

Everyone doesn't have a GSM do they?
Are there not millions of non-comlpiant phones in service?

860 networks in 220 countries, 2 billion GSM phones in service. Hell North Korea even has GSM coverage.

And the other major tech, CDMA, with only 318 million phones, has coverage everywhere as well, except for some of Africa, Greenland, and some (if not all) of Eastern Europe.

The vast majority of users are on either of those two services.

Same goes for those others of "non-compliant" phones. But even small share techs like iDEN still work internationally. The odds of finding a phone that won't work are slim. Old TDMA models for example, but it's a dead tech, go figure.

White guy in Dearborn buys cell phones to resell, he's a businessman.

Arab guy in Dearborn buys "remote detonators" to resell, he's a terrorist.

LOL when did I ever side with Hezbollah? In fact I'm emphatically against them as well as what Israel has been doing--if anything my viewpoints are quite neutral. As for the 20 odd guys arrested in the UK, I've already expressed my thoughts about that in the relevant thread, feel free to read it and then put your foot in your mouth; by the way did you also give credit to Pakistan for tipping off the UK about them? I noticed none of the neodumbservatives on the radio today mentioned it, they were too busy discussing how to genocide muslims.

Nice fallacy. Don't change your argument in the middle of the thread. You said:
"US Phones don't work in Madrid, Spain - different regulations, different frequencies."

Completely untrue. GSM is made EXACTLY for that reason. Yes, there are still different frequencies, both most phones are dual, tri, or even quad band. They will allow you to roam on any GSM network. Yes, there are technical details depending on the phone type and other factors, but nothing that prevents someone from using a phone overseas if they want.

Update on story

Abulhassan and Houssaiky admitted buying about 600 phones in recent months at stores in southeast Ohio and selling them to someone in Dearborn, the heart of southeastern Michigan's large Arab community.

Vessels said the men had a list detailing the specific types of phones to buy, based on the kind of microchips they contain.
"Mr. Abulhassan made a statement to officers that he knew what they were doing was wrong and that he knew no one would ever use over 600 phones for legal purposes," Vessels said.
"(He also stated) he did not know for sure, but that he believed the phones and chips were being shipped overseas."
