The major bitcher about gun control is the Red State NRA. The people who bitch about the lack of gun control are the people who are getting shot by a flood of unregulated guns often times flowing into areas with gun control from NRA strong areas. Gun control is the desire of people who live in areas where guns are out of control and people are being shot, areas of high population density where you can't draw and fire at a black hat cowboy fleeing into a crowd.
So are you saying that "blue" states have more criminals, thus their desire for more gun control? Or do the criminals come from the "red" states to shoot the "blue" citizens?
No, I'm saying, and this should be obvious to you, that blue states have more criminals because they have more desperately handicapped people since all the money to help them socially is being stolen by the Red States.
Are you saying that Red States naturally produce people that want to move to cities to kill? Eeeeew.
How about, he is saying that people in states with gun crontrol are still complaining about it becasue without NATIONAL gun control the guns can just come across the state line.

I really do hope that you guys take up gun control again these next 2 years, Republicans will win big in 08 if you do. Gun control does not work. Prohibition really doesn't work. It didn't work with alcohol, it doesnt work with drugs, and it doesnt work with guns. Do you really think that the criminals are going to stop committing crimes with guns because it is illegal to have a gun??
How about you let the law abiding citizens arm themselves to protect their home and their family from the criminals that are going to get a gun anyways.

If the Dems decide they want to go after people's guns, they will literally shoot themselves in the foot. They mave have won a lot of seats, but most of the races weren't won by much of a margin. Try taking the guns away from the people in MT and see which way they vote next election.
BTW, aboput the topic. I live out here in the middle of a VERY rural red state. I'm know we get bqck more fromn the feds then we pay in, but the majority of the extra money we get goes to support the infrastructure needed to get out our crops to market.
I'd like to hear what Rangel would have to say if they started going hungry/straving in NY.
I think gun control is not a problem that needs solving. Other issues are at root of violence by gun. I think that high density populations are held in check by the thin veil of civilzation. Once that is gone all hell will break loose. Current violent acts with guns to me just show that this is simmering below the surface. Something needs to be done to ween people into self reliance. It would go a long way to change the feeling of 'entitlement' that I feel fuels allot of normal crime. The violent crime would follow suit

Why is ti states with CCW laws have lowered the level of crime? Why is it guns were used almost 2 million times in self defense. Why is it the guns they try to ban (.50, "assault weapons") account for less the 5% of all gun crime? Might as well make Everclear illeagl to combat drunk driving.

Absolutely true! I am socially liberal, and I don't stop for a hypocrisy break to support gun bans.
If we legalized drugs, roughly half of our prison space would open up, so that we could keep more violent criminals off the streets. And since the price of drugs would plummet to almost nothing, there wouldn't be any point in committing crimes to get the drugs, so that takes a second class of criminal out of action.
Focus on incarcerating offenders who HARM OTHER CITIZENS. This drug war has done nothing but screw this country up.
Gun control won't work, as obviously only law-abiding citizens would disarm. Someone bent on committing violent crime would find a gun through other criminals (if they don't already have several).

All I ask of those Democrats who truly are against gun control....Write your Senators and Congressmen if and when another gun ban comes up. Tell them you dont support gun bans and you wont support them if they do push for one.

And that's why I think you guys are getting your panties in a bunch over nothing...there are a fair number of Dems who ARE against the more extreme forms of gun control (very few people, even the NRA, are totally against all forms of gun control). I don't think that 7-11 should be handing out free guns when you buy a coke, for example, but I also don't support the types of "gun control" found in cities like San Francisco and Washington DC. And I'm certainly not alone on the left, this idea that 2nd amendment supporters are some sort of oppressed minority simply isn't true, even among lefties. So relax, nobody is coming to take your guns...
