Both Models are advertized as Professional Series and both GOLD Rated?

Seems to have the older Paint scheme

and this which is probably the Newer Model.

Other then the Paint - What justifies the $40 price difference?

From what I gather the older model has a slight ripple in the 5v rail and the newer model has a slight variance in the 3v rail. I believe the fan was updated with Quiet Mode, the case lightened (Cheaper) & somewhat more energy efficient in the newer model. Both have CWT innards. Reviews score both 9.5/10 and receive Editor Choice Awards - Confusing?

Another NOTE: I believe the older model was originally rated 80+ Silver but passed 80+ Gold Standards and has since been advertized as 80+ Gold.

Other then the Quiet Mode I can't justify the $40 price difference between v1 and V2 of the Corsair HX750?

I am guessing they are just dropping the price to clear out the old stock. Perhaps some of the difference is due to the version, but not all 40

Indeed. http://www.corsair.com/professional-series-hx750-80-plus-silver-certified-modular-power-supply.html

Nope. And the quiet mode is not at all important if your PC isn't extremely quiet at idle.

Just checking - is this going to a SLI/Crossfire rig?

From what I've read Corsair advertises the HX750 v1 as 80+ Silver but Reviews say, except for efficiency, it passes all 80+ Gold testings. The v2 HX750 has minor mods to increase the efficiency aspect and is advertised by Corsair as 80+ Gold. You will see the HX750 v1 advertized as 80+Gold on many retail sites.

I'm building the following Platform: ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen3 / i7 2700k / 16GB Samsung MV-3V4G3D-US_DDR3.

I have the above items and after the new year will be shopping for a PSU (HX750 v1?), either Thermaltake 2.0 Extreme or Corsair H100i Water Cooling, 128GB SSD - Either the Samsung Pro 840 or OCZ Vector. Perhaps 2 x 1T 7200rpm 64MB HDD's in Raid 0 and a small BackUp HDD plus an Optic DVD/CD Burner.

I presently have a good (power hungry) EVGA GTX 280 - I'm more into Video Encoding then Gaming but would not mind the option to expand to a Gaming platform and yes either SLI or X-Fire with UpDated Video Cards is and open option for me but not right now.

I will probably settle around a 4.6GB approx a 1.35v 24/7 OC.

I have seen the HX750 v2 with rebate On Sale for $130

The Seasonic x750 and x760 around $160
