1. Can i use arctic silver 5 w/ the stock heatsink and fan that comes w/ a A64 winnie 3000+ cpu. Im not sure if it has pads etc that will obstruct this.

2. Eventually i plan to upgrade to a very good heatsink and fan, if i have the stock thermal paste on it w/ the stock stuff, then in 2 months i decide to switch to a better heatsink fan and arctic silver 5, will the old thermal paste negate the effects or lessen the effects of arctic silver, b/c i heard u can never get rid of all of the old paste.

You cn use AS 5 for anything you want, so long as you are careful not to get it where you don't want it. So long as you clean off the old stuff with Isopropyl, you can change between them as you wish.

I personally find little difference between the cheapo stuff and AS. For me, it's not enough to justify the $$$. The closer to the thermal danger-zone that you are, the more important the compound becomes though. AS seems to last longer than te cheap stuff, so to me, that's the main selling point.

well i got the retail cpu.. so it will come w/ its own thermal paste. The 10$ for the AS5 is a nonfactor for me. I just dont know how easy the application is. Like if theres a pad i need to remove on the stock heatsink on the A64 etc. Anyone know? If its straight forward ill use it. Just let me know cuz my parts come at 12 today and i wanna head to the store before they get here 🙂

If you bought a retail A64, yes, there is preapplied thermal grease that you would have to remove (usually with isopropyl alcohol). There are very easy installation instructions on Arctic Silver's website.
