2 computers hooked up to a BEFSR41 wired router. What hardware do I need to hook a notebook to it?

Ok right now I have my computer, and my sister's computer hooked up to a Linksys BEFSR41 4 port wired router. However, I plan on purchasing a laptop soon, and would like to share the cable connection with the other 2 PCs. The router is located upstairs, and I need something that would probally not have trouble working downstairs at a decent transfer rate. What hardware would I need to make this possible? And where should I place the AP to get the best range? I've done a little research and everyone swears by the Orinoco PC cards, so I'm probally going to go with that.

And I assume all I would need is an AP/Gateway, since I already have a router? I looked at http://www.practicallynetworked.com and cannot decide on an AP, since they don't have one recommended. What would you guys suggest?

As Jack would say:

Common knowledge says that the best price/performance combo is the SMC wireless AP and Orinoco PC Cards.
Sorry I don't have Jack's amazing Link-O-Matic Library-Ma-Tron.

(As soon as he posts with the real links, this post will self-destruct).

Personally, I have an Orinoco RG-1100 kit. Less than $200 for an AP and PC Card (Gold). Very economical and excellent performance.

Do you think that I would have trouble going downstairs and getting a decent connection? And whats the best place to put an access point?
