1) What is the different between perl and cgi? Are they the same thing?

2) In perl, what's the command to run an external program?

1. Perl and CGI are competing products. Like McDonald's and Burger King.
Perl stands for Package Enhance Request Language
CGI stands for Computer Generated Interconnect

2. You have to install an API

I always thought that CGI can be programmed in a variety of languages and Perl is one of them, but there is like special stuff you have to type in the code to make it CGI.

I though CGI was Common Gateway Interface... PERL is just a language you can use to perform CGI functions...
