2 cdroms on one IDE cable?

I've got IDE1 and 2 connectors on my mobo. HD on 1, and my CDR on 2. I'd like to connect up a reg CD drive to it too. I can just connect one of the ends of the IDE cable to one cd drive and the other to my CDR right? (Don't need a splitter cable or something do I?)

Yes, that's fine... also make sure you set one to master and one to slave.

Say what? Maybe you misunderstood his question.

Duck. Yes you can set up the CDROM's as Master and SLave on the secondary IDE channel, however, it is usually recommended that you seperate the two if you are going to use the non CDR CDROM as a source when copying or creating CDR's on the writer. It can be done but you will make more coasters with both on the same IDE channel.

Ah, so is there another way to get my CD drive working? I don't wanna slow down my HD by putting the CD drive on the same channel.

Duck, I suggest setting the CDR as master and the CD as slave on the SAME cable. I have this setup and it works.

Anyway, it's more important to (1) DEFRAG you HD, (2) close ALL other apps when recording a CD -- esp. anti-virus apps, (3) DISABLE the screen saver and any power saving options, (4) DON'T use the computer and burn in the background, (5) chose the option to test before burning -- depends on your software.
