First question
What place is the best for getting new tires and having them installed.
Mavis tires or like Sears, i'm in NY so if anyone could recommend a store it be great.

Second question.
Why does the stearing wheel on cars lock sometimes, where you can move it and can't turn the key to turn the car on. How do you get out of it. I stat in my car last night for like 5 minutes fighting it.

With the wheel lock -- just try to turn it more towards the side the wheel is already turned to. That will releive the pressure on the locking mechanism and let you unlock the column. That usually works in the cars I've owned. Maybe something else is messed up?

Have you checked out TireRack.com for tires? Look at the local installers they have listed. It might be worth it depending on the tires you get even with the shipping charges.

Last time I bought tires I went to Town Fair Tire. They will beat anyone's price by 5% including price clubs (like BJ's, Sam's, Costco). They also do a free full alignment when you buy 4 tires.

Also, I prefer the one stop purchase (tires, mounting/blancing & alignment). That way if you have any trouble, they can't blame it on someone else.

If you buy the tires one place and get the alignment somewhere else, and you have trouble, the alignment guys might say it's defective tires and teh tires guys might say it's a bad alignment.

the wheel lock doesnt happen all the time, maybe once every 3 months, but i hate it when it happens, all sudden it came loose. But every car i have had has always done it at least once.

about the tire question, i will check it out but i actually need to get it done on friday, one of my tires is already got an issue and i think its time to change all 4.

Do you have one of those chip things? I know in my uncle's truck you have to wave the matching chip in front of the one under the wheel then insert the key to start the car within 5 or so seconds of doing that.

its just the wheel lock. It will lock if you turn the steering wheel after you have shut off your engine. To unlock just turn the wheel the direction you tires are pointed and put in and turn the key slightly to unlock the mechanism.

Tirerack for tires.
