This sure as hell ain't gonna be the last time THIS SUBJECT is broached!

I'll probably never buy an SUV, but I'd definitely buy one over a "supposed" economy car. Seems like a misnomer to me, economy car! Hah! They're economical to build, but not repair! The economy car uses mucho expensive CV-Joints instead of cheap as dirt U-Joints. Not to mention the higher cost of installing CV-Joints. The little hyper engines in economy cars have timing belts instead of chains, which need replacing before the vehicle is spent. They need 4 wheel alignments, which are more expensive. They need alignments more often, because their itsy bitsy suspensions are so fragile and abused by our pot hole filled, American roads. Components under the hood cost more in labor to replace, because they're so damned hard to get at. The FWD transmissions can't take the abuse that a rugged SUV transmission can.

What would be a mere bumper blemish of an accident in an SUV, results in a crumpled front or rear clip of an economy car. Not very practical IMO. Speaking of "clips", when an economy car gets a crumple, it involves the chassis, because the damn things are uni-body construction. Like I said, go-karts are economical to build. Short of fuel savings, that's about the ONLY thing economical about them!

You're a real doofus, did you know that (I'm going to reserve 'jackass' for later). I've tried to put together a comprehensive list of the most common threads in OT, using poll answers based on the most frequently debated answers. If you want me to add something to the list let me know.

I have kids and getting them in and out of the back of an SUV is easier than with a car
My wife feels a lot safer behind the wheel of a vehicle that is large and has a good view of the road
I haul sh!t around and need one

I could go on forever. You want to have an end all be all poll, have an end all be all list of choices...

Where's the option for "I drive a truck and therefor have no need for the status symbol called an SUV." or "I drive a GOOD car and don't need to waste cash on an SUV in order to get out of the econobox class."?

I don't own one, but I'm not against owning one, once I can afford it. I'm tall and I need a lot of leg room. Whatever can give me the leg room I need, I'll drive, pretty much.

I wouldn't own one simply because I have no need for one. I drive my RX7 convertable :) and the wife drives her Sentra. Both even have a trailer hitch when I need to haul something behind like my jet ski, the trailer for which also doubles as a general purpose trailer. :D

Edit: One more for the list: No, I drive a sports car which I much prefer over any other vehicle.

My Xterra sure does come in handy when I haul my buddies up to Tahoe on our snowboarding trips, but I use an Integra as my commute car.

You've described the first choice in the poll, silly.

OK, you caught me. Now that you know about my inadequate poll, let's just keep it a secret between you & me, OK?

Great idea this turned out to be. I was just looking for a simple distinction between those here that like SUVs over ricers and vice/versa, since those seem to be the two most common YACT that we see here.

Ask you to pick between black and white and you start whining that I excluded the other 62 crayons in the box. Deal with it. It's just a poll. If you don't like it, make your own.
