2 Camcorders for golf training area

Hey guys,

I'm setting up a golf hitting bay in my garage and I plan to set up a computer with two camcorders to view my swing.

That said, I know absolutely nothing about camcorders.

The camcorders will be somewhat close to where I stand so the wider the zoom the better.

I have no idea what the best way to connect to a PC would be, I'm guessing firewire?

The cheaper the better on the camcorder. It won't be used for anything other than this. It will remain plugged in 24/7 so battery life doesn't matter.

the casio ex-f1 hooked up to the computer would be awesome for that. 1000 fps. better than any camcorder. they're a bit pricey though.

there aren't many consumer level high fps video recorders out there, and even fewer with computer control capabilities. regular camcorders or digicams may be able to record at 60 fps, but almost none of them have the ability to output directly to or be controlled by a computer. and 60 fps really isn't fast enough for meaningful analysis of a swing or a pitch, imho.


there are some less expensive casios that do 1000 fps but you'll need either a remote control, a helper, or heavy use of the self timer to take videos of your swing. and you'll have to drag & drop the images from the camera.

you'll also need a lot of light to get really good images at 200+ fps

They don't really need to control the computer.

Not sure what you mean by that.

Really all they have to do is be able to output video to the computer via firewire for the V1 software.
