2 black lines running parallel and horizontal across my monitor......

So I was taking a closer look at my Gateway monitor last night and noticed 2 black lines running across it. I tried degaussing it and futzing with the settings, but it wont go away. Powering on and off did nothing either. They were still there today and it seems like they wont be going away any time soon.

Any ideas on what they are??

That's normal.

You're probably using a flat screen aperture grille monitor, which means those to faint horizontal lines are supposed to be there.

Its normal as what has been said here. Any monitor using an Aperature Grill will have those 2 black lines on the screen associated with it. Sometimes you notice them sometimes you dont. Personally they dont bother me a bit.

Those lines are part of what i call the "trinitron effect". I cant stand the fact that my picture has two lines marking off the upper and lower quarters. On top of that.. i cant stand the fact that *ALL* trinitrons are fuzzy at high resolutions.

Yes, i'm picky..... but i figure that if i spend 8-10 hours in front a PC every day.. (and i do) then i shouldn't have to look at annoying lines and dizzying fuzziness. Am i right or am i right?

Trinitron was a good tube 33 years ago (yes it has been that long)... but there have thankfully been advances in the past few decades that mean i can run at more than 1248*1024 on my 19" monitor without having to guess what the small text on the screen is actually saying.

OK... now enough with my biatching session... but its one of my pet peeves.

You know, many people never even notice the lines. I like to point it out to them and watch them get so annoyed and then pissed at me for pointing it out.

I really hope you can learn to live with them. When I first saw those lines on a school computer (about 10 years ago) I vowed never to purchase an AG monitor. Good luck.

I can live with it. If nobody mentions it, I won't even feel it!

Again, be grateful that you can complain about the 2 lines. Alot of people out there can't afford to complain about it.
