I have an Asus A7V600 mobo with AMD Barton 2500+ cpu using Corsair ValueSelect DDR400 512mb ram.

Questions:

In BIOS, I set the CPU Vcore to [Auto] and Cpu-Z said that my cpu is at 1.744v. I was expecting a default value of 1.65v. Why is that 1.744? Does that mobo do dynamic overclocking (without changing my multiplier though)? Should I set it to [manual] and fix it at [1.65v]?

My memory is DDR400. Should I manually set the Memory Frequency to [333] in BIOS to make the cpu clock 1:1 ? I noticed that by doing so (instead of let it [Auto]) my ram timing dropped from 2.5-3-3-8 to 2.5-3-3-7 by itself, as showned in Cpu-Z. Is that automatic timing reduction normal?

Remark:

Setting it back to 1.65v decreases my cpu temp from 40-43C to 36C.

Asus has a program called Asus Probe to monitor cpu temp, voltage, fan speed, memory usage, etc. When my cpu vcore was at 1.74v, it showed that my cpu fan speed was 18k rpm LOL. After I changed it to 1.65v, everything back to normal and the hsf is running happily at 1.3k rpm.

The Vcore voltage should be 1.65v for the desktop Bartons, so just set it to 1.65v and see if it's stable.

Yes. It's stable. I just dont' understand the BIOS set it automatically to 1.74v for what.

Yes, you should set your memory frequency to be 1:1 witht the FSB clock. Any other question? Peace.
