You think, it's impossible?

I had Yamaha RX-V467 connected to front pair of Polk Audio and surround sound/center - 5.0, I don't need subwofer because I don't need "ghetto sound"" and front - Polk Audio is used for "Extra bass" Yamaha AV Receiver has option which gives you a pretty, soft bass...

Now, I got in situation, when a Cambridge Audio amp came for sale, I wanted that for audio ONLY - TT and music from my HiFIMan player....without giving up Surround sound setup for my TV and Argosy Media Player....

Here we go...

My co-worker made me a lttle Switch...Now, I can play Stereo only from Cambridge Audio amp to main speakers and still have my Yamaha surround sound for TV and Argosy Media Player...

Subwofer doesn't make "ghetto sound"" for example "extra bass" with Cambridge Audio amp in stereo connected to a lttle switch can play Stereo only and make "ghetto sound"" if TT music from HiFIMan player has heavy bass in recording or bass knob is MAX your Polk Audio will thump like "ghetto sound"" subwofer.

2 amps -> 1 pair of speakers is a form of bi-amping
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bi-amping

The necessity of bi-amping is frequently debated. The general consensus is that it probably doesn't do anything (especially if you're using ok or better amps to begin with).

also subwoofers don't make "ghetto sound." "Ghetto people" use subwoofers to make "ghetto sound."
subwoofers are capable of making extremely clean and impressive sound at the low frequency end. Large drivers are much better at low frequency than smaller drivers.

That said many forms of music don't utilize the low frequency enough for subwoofers to be a necessity (hence all the studio monitor 2.0 sets). They really help for movies and games though (hence the more frequent inclusion of "subwoofers" in these).

I had 5.1 setup(with downfiring sub), it was with Yamaha receiver.
I like more "soft bass" sound with Yamaha 5.0 setup - Front, floorstanding speakers, center and 2 surround sound - that's for while watching TV or playing music videos from Argosy Media Player...

Cambridge Audio amp - totally different story - for playing LPs and playing flacs thru HiFiMan... balanced frequencies.

What do I call "ghetto sound", when people need bass only...floor pounding sound...

I liked before a lot of bass...a lot of of highs...

However, recently, I've learned, noticed, how beautiful sound can be when there a lot, rich mids..besides pounding bass and screeching highs...when soundstage is great....

Listening to music - flacs from HiFiMan thru Cambridge Audio amp no need to use "bass/treble" knobs...just "direct" button - to listen a music how it is recorded.

Regarding TT, I might need a better TT preamp...And speakers - main...I might need to get better.

OP was about how to listen 2 amps hooked to a one pair speakers - listening from 2 different sources hooked to each amp...nothing about bi-amping...

Lol @ ghetto sound.

You can't be serious. I have Polk Audio speakers as well, and a subwoofer, and I STILL don't get enough bass. In fact, many home theater setups use sometimes up to 8 subwoofers to produce accurate bass sound.

If you are getting "Ghetto sound" you've set your setup up wrong. And having been around an audio forum, a lot of people do that.

Whats this thread about? You can have literally infinite amps connected to a single speaker.

He "does know" what he's talking about....

On the contrary I have no idea what "you" are talking about.

Although there are many nuances of the English language where the so-called rules of syntax are frequently broken, grammar and spelling have rules that are never broken.

What model speakers do you have and sub did you have. Your sub ether sucked or just wasn't setup correctly. You shouldn't notice a transition from your speakers to your sub, it should just sound like your speakers can produce a full range of sound that they wouldn't otherwise be able to do.

I had Pioneer 5.1 setup...I would not ever get any sub...I do like softer bass, not "pounding" one...

I do have now for TV, Media Player 5.0 setup, where floor-standing Polk Audio 50 gives me a wanted nice soft bass...with Yamaha AV Receiver setup to "no sub", "extra bass" thru front large speakers...center and surround are too - Polk Audio...First I did run Auto Setup...after I did adjustements to my liking - depends how I sit or lay on the couch...

Audio, now is player thru Cambridge Audio Azur 550A amp...either from my HifiMan or TT
Flacs from HiFiMan sounds great, but I do have to "play/adjust" to TT sound....
Stereo - CDs, LPs do not have surround...If someone does listen CDs and other audio thru 5.1 - it's synthesized sound, not real...a few artist recently actually recorded albums to 5.1

I want better sound - bass/mids/highs at same level, better soundstage - room "filled" with a music sounds at low volume...

No kidding. You can turn down your sub channel to balance your system when setting up. In fact a lot of newer receivers will do this automatically. Go look up infinite baffle subs to see the sort of setup you really need to do LFE in HT. I want to make the earth move.

You're not going to "fill a room" at low volumes unless you have a tiny room. It's just a matter of physics.
