Which connector does videocam usually use?

The connector on the Vid Cam is 4 pin.

Connecting to the computer is usually 6pin. If connecting to notebook it's usually 4 pin

so get one depending on your application.

oops! I assumed a connection from a desktop to Camcorder and thats why i said 6 pin to 4 pin meaning 6 pin on one end and 4 pin on the other. Thanks for clarifying isekii.

What is IME btw ? :)

again usually on a desktop the connection is 6 pin, on a laptop it is 4 pin, and on a DV camera it is 4 pin.... so a 6 to 4 for DV to Desktop and 4 to 4 for DV to laptop. Or you may need a 6 to 6 for a desktop to desktop or 4 to 4 for a laptop to laptop ... or ....

Rather easy to tell the difference between the 4-pin and 6-pin connection types - a simple physical examination should dictate which cable.

Also, a number of desktop replacement notebooks use 6-pin connectors rather than the 4-pin/iLink style (personally have a 6-pin connector on my DTR). Actually greatly prefer the 6-pin over the 4-pin, especially on a notebook - the 6-pin connection is more secure, and has less chance of being jarred out of place. The 4-pin connection type can often simply detach with a nudge in the wrong direction; which, of course, doesn't fare well for data being transmitted from peripherals.

As 1394b is still rather new, cables might run a bit costly.

L-com - $20.50
Cable Wholesale - $15.00
