Hi,

Anyone has a Precott 2.8E successfully clocked at 3.640Ghz or beyond with only fan cooling?

I have a Zalman 7000-Cu, how far do u think i can go?
just base on CPU.

thanks

Uhh not very far...well not without better cooling.

My 2.8 prescott gets very hot!!!!! It will do about 3.4 max but it will overheat quickly when running stuff. With watercooling it will do way way better...makes me want to switch back to water!

even with standard water cooling my 2.8e seems to max out under 3.4ghz (even with as much as 1.62v)
i think i just got an early stepping tho

4ghz is what most people woulda liked to see outta their 2.8e purchases, but you'll need really good cooling
with good air cooling people have gotten them between 3.2 and 4ghz
just a matter of luck i guess, but i hear the later steppings are doing good

Should have gotten a 2.8C....currently running @ 3.6 (could do 3.64 w/ a little more voltage), but load temp only reaches 50C, and thats reported on an Abit board (over-temping). The Prescotts run at least 10C higher from what I've read.

the 1mb cache is worthless. I imagine you are a gamer, judging by an OC'ed 9800p, in which 1mb is useless.

My load temp on a 3.0C @ 3ghz is 72c, so I'd say his prescott is pretty sweet. :D

P4 Prescott 2.8E @ 4 GHz 1.3v ON AIR!! ;)

It all depends on batch/stepping ...lucky of the draw..etc... most will overclcok 5-700mhz though..mot bad at all...

Another thing is that once you oc prescott its faster then Northie....fastest super pi time is, guru overclcoker Memesa got his prescott around 5 Ghz..he has the world record in super pi also :D

that link is the most impressive prescott overclock i've seen yet even if it isn't fully stable, just that it's booting with that voltage and speed is amazing

nice find
