What stepping is your 3.2E? Have you increased the vcore any? Those temps are within the the Prescott guideline but they seem high for a XP-120. Under full load I only get to 47C @ 3.9 with 1.4125 vcore.

It's a D0 stepping. Using 1.48v vcore, wouldn't boot in to windows at 3.6 with a loer vcore.

Yeah, don't worry elvis, you won't get an ES retail, it is engineering sample like Jason said, and they don't sell those retail. I just got unlucky, cause my 3.2 ES was supposed to be a 3.6es, so I basicly paid $300 to get the parts for a 100mhz gain, since my crappy 3.2 won't go any faster. The retail 3.2s seem to be able to hit between 3.8 and 4.0 pretty well.

i'm tellin' ya. here's the prod.code: BX80546PG3200ESL7ES looks like an ES to me. anyway, it's doing 3.92 on stock voltage at 38C right now. i've seen it go as high as 41C while running a couple of benches. sandra cpu arithmetic: ALU 11,511 FPU/iSSE2 4689/8088. Aquamark 3 74,211. 3dm2k3 13,403. looks like a keeper to me and definitely worth the upgrade ;)

The product code is BX80546PG3200E, the last part, SL7ES, is the spec number, it isn't an engineering sample. By the way, nice overclock, wish my piece of crap chip would go that high.

Hehe look closer. Its SL7E5

Thats the same stepping as I have. A "DO" chip. Mine everclocks very well. My water cooling setup should be here within a day or two so we'll see if I can break 4gig or more.

Good luck with yours!

yeah, your right. looks like it's time for glasses. man i hate getting old. i'll try a little higher once it "burns in" ;) not too bad for $175.00 for a brand new retail.

this cpu's really settling in. 33c idle 38c load @ 3.92 ghz. (245 fsb, 1:1) on 1.39vcore. i auto o/c'd my ultra to 454 core and 1160 mem and got 75,962 on aquamark and 13,808 on 3dm2k3. if you run a hi-po watercooling solution, this pressley's worth a look imho ;) . watercooling that ultra's next than that should be it for this configuration.

btw, does anyone know if hl2 supports sse3 instructions? in sure seems like it runs "smoother" and a few fps faster :D
this cpu kicks ass. maybe it's not as good as a northy for gaming clock for clock, but once you push it further than that northy will go, it really shines.
