2.8C SL6Z5 (MO Stepping) @ 1.425vcore

OK - here is a new one on me.

I just bought a 2.8C SL6Z5 today. I know that these are multi-vid chips that specs down the vcore to 1.425v but I have not seen any posts that show this low of a vcore reading when set to default in the BIOS. The retail box does show the vcore to be 1.525v max as they all have shown. I am running this on my main rig which is a P4C800-Dlx with a SLK-900U/Panaflo 92mm 57.6cfm for cooling.

I know this is reading correctly as I just pulled a 2.6C out of this board that was showing the 1.525v as default. The bios hardware monitor actually reads with fluxuation 1.440-1.456v, which would be correct also, as this board does overvolt just a little.

Anyone else notice this vcore when using default in the bios.
Not that any of us ever use default for very long.

Already started the OC process and set the fsb to 220 still using the default (auto) setting for vcore.
Going to be some fun me thinks tonight.
Sure would like to see 3.6Ghz as I am tired of running 3.4Ghz on my old 2.6C

Bought it from Fry's on a combo deal.

Currently running 3.361Ghz @ 240fsb with vcore
in WinXP reading 1.424-1.456v under load.

I had the same chip a few weeks back. Took a ton of Vcore to get decent speeds out of it. Looks like you had much better luck with your M0 stepping. As a whole it looks like the M0 stepping is REALLY hit or miss. I would recommend a D1 stepping at this time for a better chance of OC'ing success.

I ran stabiltiy testing over night @ 3.673Ghz - AOK

262fsb ( 3673Mhz ) @ 1.488v load
and getting 1.536v idle. Will play with it some more
when I get home from work. I am increasing the vcore
now for stability, so there won't be much more in this one.

AMDScooter - I think they are all hit or miss regardless of stepping.
Luck of the Draw, as they say. I do like the lower vcore of this
MO that I have, however.

That system will be a FAST SoB crunching machine!

My 2.4C M0 and D1 do the same on my Asus board. Auto vcore settings undervolt to 1.44-1.46 bios readings.

vcore flux is part of the Intel spec ~ its normal.

I have not been able to get Prime95 stable above 262fsb with any vcore setting. So far my stability seems to be setting the BIOS vcore to 1.5625v which reads in the BIOS to be 1.440-1.472v fluxuation. That puts it at 1.440-1.472 load and 1.520-1.536v idle in Windows.

My temps with that vcore setting are 46C load / 36C idle in Windows.

I am able to run my HyperX PC3500 using 5:4 Performance Mode Enabled at 2-2-2-5 using 2.85vdimm. Only gives me DDR420 which is under specs but the timings are about as tight as they get.

I can boot much higher but must have good stability for SoB and Seti.

i can already answer that for you
Asus 1.525v = Abit 1.575v

my IC7 undervolts, 1.525v = 1.5v
it only fluxes .02v under full load ...if you believe the readings

the Abit boards do offer alot more memory tweaks in the bios tho.

if you want more stable voltages do the vdroop mod to your p4c800-e

it's good stuff...

i have it done to my p4p800 and voltages don't fluctuate as much.

still overvolts but at 1.65 bios it remains between 1.7 and 1.66 under load.
