ok i am at 3150 so far (thanks thugsrook for the ram recommendation


specs
2.8@3150 at 2-5-3-3 command auto by speed
epox 4g4a+ mobo pci/agp locked
corsair xms 3000 ram black 1 stick 512 mb using 4/5 memory clocked at 370mhz
ati 9700 pro
liteon 40x cdrw
cyberdrive dvd
sblive
pulse 424 spkrs

using my maxtor 46 gig till the ibm 15000 drive comes in friday
fans and round cables come in on the 16th same as drive cooler
21 inch monitor arrives next week

i'm going to burn her in by running memtest and looping 3dmark 2001 she ran 20 minutes with both running at 3110 so i bumped her up a bit but i'll let her cook tonight😉

tommorow i'll put her through her paces

for all the advice i have been given i say thank you all.

Isnt this just a 350mhz overclock?

Dont get me wrong I think it's cool that you're over 3ghz but would you be this excited if you overclocked a 1.6ghz to 1.950 ghz? 😉

Actually, if you look at OC %, that's like overclocking a 1.6A to 1800... 😉

but man this thig is 4x faster than my older system lol

i haven't tried higher yet i want to go slow but who knows she may not go higher but everything is at stock.either way i just aimed at 3.0 so yeah i am stoked lol

Just look at it this way, your CPU is faster than anything on the market right now. 😀
 
what does the benchmark app in the Ut2k3 system folder say? Use that instead of each benchmark individually. You'll get a final score that way more standard.

Also what is your 3dmark score? I'm curious as to how your system performs compared to mine which I just upgraded and overclocked.

the ram is running great.

the 2.4b i bought earlier this year was mated with pc800 rdram and a th7llr board.i wanted to see if i could overclock that one too
it had the newer clock generators i got the best overclocking rdram samsung original yada yada yada

that was imho a pita,most of the time it registered 1812 mhz?i did get it to 2512 mhz for two reboots lol

but everytime it i rebooted it would change. i thought that it was fast but never like this.i spent the same amount of money well within 160.00 on that build as i did this one but that was just memory mobo and cpu=1006.00
i truly never got to play with it more than two weeks or so so it may have been user error? any way my dad was on an old p-133 trying to play games lol

the 2.4 was stable just never right i mean other than the weird mhz thing it ran fine.although i did have that dang cold boot issue at first.but it hasn't glitched once for him so far.

so needless i was a nervous wreck putting this one together,i even had a nightmare yesterday that i burnt up the motherboard and ruined the computer lol (the cpu and ram came in today)🙂

but aside from my floppy drive deciding today was as good a day as any to die ,not one problem yet.


to all those whom i've bugged and/or questioned repeatedly or even once,my thanks to each and everyone.
