Hey guys, I found a local store that is selling 2 ASUS 6800GTs in one package for the outrageuos price of $180.
What do you guys think?
Is it worth it.
Maybe I could sell one or both, or probably give one to a friend in Mexico (stupidly high prices overthere)

What is going price for a used 6800GT? I am replacing mine and will probably sell on Craig's List or Ebay.

Sounds like a weak deal to me, assuming they're PCI-E which I'm sure they are if they're selling them as an SLI package.

You could get a 7600GT for $180. It will perform just about on par with a 6800GT SLI setup and you get more features, not to mention less power demands.

Spend a bit more and get a X1800GTO and you'll be ahead of the 6800GT SLI setup in most cases.

Not according to Tom's hardware.

6800GT SLI vs. 7600GT

toms reviews have needed extra large pinches of salt taken with them for along time. i wouldnt base a decision off their reviews.

but if other sites get the same, then its fair enough.

i'd go for a single card set up anyway. i've had SLI in the past and gaming on a single card feels a whole lot smoother

It's a comparison of 2 setups run on the same benchmarking software, how could it be too far off? The in-game benchmarks can be a bit off but I don't think the 3DMark tests are bad.

Anyway, you'd be better off with a single 7600GT card setup even if the 6800GT SLI is a tiny bit faster. If you get the SLI setup you may need a new PSU, and there goes the cost savings.

newer features are important

I think those results show the benefit of having full SM3.0 support etc. for future games.

no one 7600gt is barely above a 6800gt

seriously, a 7600T is 12 pipes at 550MHz and maybe a little more efficiant than the 16 on the 6800GT. I'd but the 6800GTs and sell them seperately on eBay for $100 each and then buy a 7900GT. THAT would be faster.
