2 6800gs or one 7800 gt

I am putting together a new computer and am kinda on the fence for graphics. After reading the reviews, 2 6800gs cards really smoke. I was looking at getting 2 XFX 6800gs cards at Zipzoomfly for $410. But one 7800gt from xfx is $300. I am working on a budget. Either a more expensive cpu with non-sli board and the 7800 or a sli board and cheaper cpu with the 6800gs sli. Any thoughts?

2x6800GS vs. 7800GT

the 2 cards are for the most part faster, but I dont think the performance difference justfies $110 extra for them. There are select games where they are faster, but in some games the speed is the same. Like you mentioned, you also have to get a more expensive SLI mobo (and probably a better PSU).

I would go with 7800GT instead, overclock it a bit, and get an opteron 165 or X2 3800+ (from extra savings on non-sli board and from 1 card). I think this is a much better setup since in games it'll be almost as fast, but you'll get a much faster cpu that you won't have to upgrade for a longer period of time (while you'll upgrade a graphics card 2-3 times maybe).

SLI really doesnt make sense unless your going to SLI 7800's
