So i just received my 2,5tb WD green drive from newegg and when i try to format it it only shows 280.64gb (GPT) and 280.77g (MBR) and shows nothing of the other 2.2tb. W7 X64, i tried initilizing as GPT and got nowhere.

given the 1024vs1000, you are proberly closer to missing only 2GB.

given that number, I would be suspecting the controller is not reconizing the drive correctly. WHich sata port / PC are you connected to?

My Computer (Right Click) --> Manage --> Disk Management

You should see "Unallocated space". Can Allocate this space or select you "Mark Partition as Active" or "Extend Volume/Extend Partition"?

You may need to download the latest version of Intel’s Rapid Storage Technology (Intel RST) drivers from Intel’s site.

Get the latest Intel RST version, restart the computer.

After that you should see Unallocated space and it should allow you to create simple volume and format.

OR here is a full blown guide by Microsoft:

That did it, it is now showing all of my free space (roughly 2.3tb). Thank you SO much for helping me.
