I recently got one of the sweet SL6S2 chips from outpost, but i can see my corsair xms 3200 is holding me back. I can reach 178 fsb as long as I back off the memory to ddr266. So can anyone tell me what is the best memory to that can achieve the same fsb @ ddr 400.
here are some I looked at:

Here I heard these guys were beginning to get a better rep ?

I am running this on an 8SQ800 dual channel

i seriously doubt its the ram holding you back @ 178fsb.

look elsewhere for the problem

Well it appears that my ability to overclock higher than 168fsb is directly porportional to the dram clock.
example; as i lower the dram clock to say 342, can boot @ 171 fsb = 3.24 or if i go on down on the dram around 266 i can boot @ 178fsb=3.38.
These are of course with most relaxed timings.
So what am i missing here ?

178 FSB 1:1 = DDR356. Piece of cake.
178 FSB 4:5 = DDR445. Pretty tough to do.
178 FSB 3:4 = DDR473. No way

I'm not sure those are the ratios you mean on the 655 board. Since it is dual channel, just leave it @ 1:1 (DDR266 setting). You wont lose any noticeable performance.

try 1:1 ratio
cas 2.5-3-3-7 (turbo off if applicable)
2.7v vdimm

if that dont work,
download and run a program called memtest86 to make sure your ram isnt faulty

I will have to try some real world apps to see if there is much of a difference. Sandra mem benchmark loses 1000 points and 3dmark also loses 1000 points lowering to DDR266 from DDR400. and that is at 190 mhz slower overall.:Q
