Dang, this is pretty nice. I have a 8 or a 10gig laptop hd that I don't use. Maybe I can get some use out of it with this!

The product description does not mention the maximum height drive the enclosure will accomodate. An older laptop HD may not fit, be sure before you buy.

It's actually free shipping and no tax to MA. I ordered one.

Thanks, realdeals.

Have many people ordered from this vendor? How was your experience with them? On resellerratings, they have mixed reviews, and the negatives seem fairly strong and consistent... just wanted to see the general feel from this community if any of you have bought this.

thanks!

Is it USB powered? Why does the description says it includes a power cable.

from the website it looks like it will support at least up to 60GB, because that is the maximum that they will install for you at your request.

* Powered from USB port. If working current is insufficient, it offsets from external power through DC Jack.

does anyone know if these enclosures have hd size limitations?

* Fully Ultra ATA/ATAPI compatible .

I would assume these are compatable with any notebook HDD. Also by the look of it, it should fit older thick notebook drives. Go look at the description that was linked, it shows everything there.

Isn't this comparable?

Key selling bullets:

Can be used with laptop 2.5-inch internal IDE drives
(such as hard drives) - 9.5mm Maximum thickness

USB 2.0 interface

Support for Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP

Support for MAC OS 9x or better

Plug and Play

Hot-Swappable

Bus Power design

Silver Case

Supports up to UDMA/100

No Max Hard Drive RPM
---------------

This one doesn't look as good - bus-only powered and 9.5mm max height (older drives are 12.5mm)

Those are pluses to me :)
I want a more portable enclosure, but each his own.

Yea, the resellerrating was very poor to me, that is why I wanted to know if anyone has used this company before, and their experiences. I just ordered one from them, so I will see how they are, if they are good, I may order more from them... we'll see. anyone else tried yet or trying from them?
