2.5 liter Altima 2002: 0-60 is what?

I'm guessing low 8s.

It would be pointless to find the 0-60 of the 2.5L Altima.

It has enough torque to *feel* fast and also to keep up in traffic. You'll have tons of passing power, etc...but don't except to win any races.

HOWEVER: the Aftermarket is embracing the SE-R which shares the same engine. A turbo kit has already been developed, see what I'm getting at? Theres no reason why the turbo kit shoulnd't bolt right on the Altima.

I know you don't have any plans of modding it, but say 3 years down the line you feel the need for more power, well you always have the option.

I drove two of those things about 265 miles each, but they were both automatics. I can't answer your question, but they're powerful enough at speed. I quickly and easily reached 95 MPH when I semi-punched it from 60. I immediatly backed off down to 70-75, as I was just testing, not racing.

The only bad thing I noticed about this engine is that it is not quite as smooth as a new Honda Accord's or Toyota Camry's 4 cylinder, but it's by the narrowest of margins and with all the HP this thing has, I wouldn't even care. I've owned much worse cars.

Since the "cheap" interior always gets brought up, I'll add my comments; I liked the gray cloth interior more than the black leather interior. Though they both have the same parts, the black plastic looked cheaper than the gray, and with leather, the cloth insets on the door panels are replaced with vinyl. If you want a nice leather interior in a Nissan, you should be looking at a Maxima, IMHO.

Anybody know if the Stillen Supercharger for the Maxima will fit the Altima V6 or the new Maxima V6?
That would make things very interesting indeed. :)

The Still S/C doesn't fit on the 3.5L V6 because of the VTC stuff. I didn't understand exactly what the people in the thread were talking about, most of it went over my head, but I did understand the part of the VTC stuff blocking it.

Jeez, that's FAST! And I thought Maxima's were fast. That'd be funny taking out a rice rocket with your family in the car cheering you on :p

spending thousands of dollars mooding a 2 liter is like wasting your time right now trying to overclock a celeron 300a.. why not just get a car thats already fast, if you want to go fast. (like an Athlon instead of the celery)

i asked because I want to buy one next month. They MSRP at $16,800 but the dealer said they have nothing cheaper than $21k. This is for a 2.5 with 5 speed and even though I reiterated twice "is that the bottom of line model?" He said yes but it has a bunch of options. The base model + options != $21k. Anyway obviously they don't have the one I want and I can't wait for it to be ordered in so I'll probably get something cheaper like a sentra or civic. Oh well :( I guess that will save me some money anyway.

No doubt about that. Modding a car for performance should only be done if:

1) You have money to burn and just want "the fastest suzuki swift in the world" for the hell of it or
2) You already have a fast car and it's near the point that modding it is worthwhile.

Most people mod cars that have no business being modded because that money could better have been spent on a nicer car in the first place. I can't stand it when people buy a car for $4k and put $4k of mods into it. LAME!!

Because it can be done.

Anyone can go out and buy a Camero SS, but what's the fun in that? Some people do it to be different. What's cooler? Buying a Camaro SS that has 320hp out of the box for $30K or buying a family sedan that seats 5 people for $20K and spending $5k to get it to be just as fast as a SS or faster and still have lower insurance rates??

Not everyone can justfiy having a Camaro SS. Maybe the dude has kids and a family and needs a car that can haul his family. But he wants some speed too..

I know that many of the Maxima.org people who have SCs or custom build engines and such are mostly domestic fans who've had some crazy Mustangs or F-bodies in the past, but now they have a family and had to get rid of their previous muscle/pony cars due to practicality. So their next best choice was a Maxima. The only other cars that could meet the requirements would be an A6, GS400, or 540i. And those are all way expensive.

I actually know someone who did that. They bought an old CRX and made it into an extreme autocrosser car. Spent about 6K CDN into it. Why?? Cause it was something they wanted to be different.

what family sedan will run high 12's (which a stock 2002 SS the new intake, etc. is capable of) for under $5k in mods ?

and I'm 20 years old, no way in hell I'm getting a family car no matter if it runs 8's in the quarter

edit-but forget this, I didnt even mention any car until you all did, I just said why not get a car thats already fast, didnt say what car.

A Camaro SS runs high 12s?? I thought it ran mid 13s..well anyway..you can use enough NOS to run low 12s in a Maxima..its been done..and in Texas too...your may even know the dude. He runs with F-bodies and Supras..which I hear is the big thing there...since you guys have warm weather you can afford to drive 400+hp cars all year...lucky bastard!

But I do understand what your saying though...someone your age or my age has no need for a family sedan. And I would love to have a Trans-Am..but that ain't happening. Can't afford insurance. But that's beside the point.

I've discussed with you before that everyone likes different things in a car. Lets just leave it at that.

btw where you located in Texas?? do you goto the races there?
