2.4L Vtec Maintenance Schedule

Anyone know the maintenance schedule on the subject engine? Just bought a 03 Element but no owners manual was included. I believe the engine is the same in the Accords and CRV's.

How many miles does it have?

Oil changes are every 5k or six months under severe service, 10k or annually under normal service.

The engine and cabin air filters are due every three years or 30k, though under extreme conditions they may need to be done sooner. The cabin air filter is usually a neglected item on an used car so I would take care of that one immediately.

The brake fluid needs to be flushed every three years, regardless of mileage.

Spark Plugs and valve adjustment needs to be done at 110k. At that time, I would also replace the serpentine belt and drain and refill the cooling system with Genuine Honda Type II.

Transmission fluid should be drained and refilled at 60k, then every 30k thereafter with ATF-Z1. If you decide to do a full flush (make sure the magnetic plug gets cleaned and no additives are used), then you could probably just flush it every 60k.

what the above people said is pretty accurate i think. the K24A4 engine same one used in 03-05 accords

Thomas: Thanks. I wasn't aware of that.
Thecritic: It has quite a bit of miles for an 03, roughly 73k. The dealer did included a 3yr 36k stage3 warranty though. I need to look it over but I think it basically covers everything except tires.
