I was thinking about upgrading my pentium 2.4C to a 2.8C for only $60. Do you guys think that the performance increase would be dramatic and worth it?

I have had a 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8. I can say that I am liking this 2.8 better than the others. Of course, I got some OCZ gold to go with it and am happily running it at 250 fsb, 1:1 and at 1.55 vcore! Hehe

They are all really just the same core speed binned.... But having the higher muliplier might let you reach a higher fsb speed, since the low one on the 2.4c makes it hard on some mobos. I still don't think its worth that 60 dollars, take a cute girl out to dinner instead.

Yes that's a nice upgrade,better yet keep the 60$ and OC your 2.4c to 3ghz. ;)

Hehe, he said he is not planning to OC any time soon. I'm in a similar situation as him, while I dont mind OC the processor I dont want the extra noise created by fans needed to OC.

If you are sure you don't want to overclock, and there's nothing wrong with that decision, the 2.6c is proably worth $60.

Because of the Pentium 4 design, higher speed chips gain quite a bit of performance, compared to other cpus.
